Introduction to vol-bivouac in Himalayas
Paragliding XC and vol-bivouac course in Bir Billing and Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh in October, the best paragliding season.
Reliable flying with vultures, vol-biv options for every level, all spiced with Tibetan and Indian culture!
Himalayas are calling
Bir Billing, a small Tibetan colony in Himachal Pradesh, at the gate of Himalayas and not far Dharamshala and Dalai Lama’s residence (which you can see from the air!)
Every year in October, when the season is over on the Northern but hasn’t quite started on the Southern Hemisphere, Bir becomes a center of the paragliding world. Pilots from all over the world come and create unique community, all spiced with Tibetan and Indian culture.
vol-bivouac adventure
Flying in Bir in October is very reliable for the mountains, unflyable days are extremely rare, and motivated pilots can fly even 50h in two weeks! There is an infinity of options for pilots at any level, from first 50, 100 (or even 150-200km!) XC on the front ridge, flights to the legendary ‘back’ toward the majestic 5000m peaks all the way to multiday expeditions into the heart of the Himalayas.
It’s one of the best imaginable areas to start vol-bivouac adventure. We will warm up at the front, then we will start vol-bivouac adventures – spend some nights out in the stunning mountains (i.e. 360, Dharamsala, Hobbiton, Parashar Lake). We will acclimatize to the altitude and if the conditions are safe and you are keen, we might fly and camp at the legendary ‘back’ for some real high mountain experience in thin air and unforgettable views.
