Technical Training
at the Coast of New Zealand
Technical Training
Karioitahi, New Zealand
Learn all the skills which will make you safe and efficient on the coast, flats, and in the mountains.
Learn to manage your wing in strong winds, take off in tricky places or when it’s crossed, top and slope land precisely using various technics, learn to hover, flap, use ears safely, advanced pitch control and wing overs using weight shift properly. It’s all about YOU, your skills, and goals so we’ll work on elements that are important for your progress.
It’s not SIV or acro training, instead, we focus on particular practical skills that are crucial in real-life situations, especially when it matters most, close to the ground. These skills will let you fly when others aren’t even able to take off and land on places you didn’t think were possible, and you’ll have heaps of fun!
If you are thinking about vol-bivouac, these are the most crucial (and underestimated) skills you should learn before going into the mountains. Out there, no take-off is perfect and good top and slope landing skills will save you loads of hiking while keeping you safe and making your adventures so much more fun!
Piloting level: Any, from freshly signed off to experienced pilots. You need PG2 (or your national licence and NZ visiting pilot licence).
Spot: Karioitahi (New Zealand) has laminar winds and dozens of kilometers of grassy top and slope landings and takeoffs for pilots at any level. In our opinion, it’s the best training ground in the world. There are other spots available, depending on wind conditions and your needs or goals.
When: January – February, get in touch and we’ll arrange individually when the conditions are right for you. It’s a great idea to stop on the coast when you arrive to New Zealand, get over jet lag and warm up before heading to the mountains.
Price: 100NZD per hour of personal coaching or 500NZD for 6h package. It’s an intense training which requires sharp focus so for your benefit and safety it might be limited to max 3h per day. On the other hand, just a few hours on the coast can make you a completely different pilot!
